Dinner with colleague on first trip to NYC?
Hi there-
I have a colleague coming into town from Toronto next Tuesday and she has never been to NYC! We want to take her to dinner, but I'm at a bit of a loss where one should take a newbie to NY. We will be 5 women between late 20s, early 30s. We do have 1 vegetarian in the mix too, to complicate matters (not the visiting colleague, though).
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks!

Here are some ideas for good food and a bustling New Yorky vibe:
Modern Bar Room
Scarpetta
Locanda Verde
Momofuku Ssam Bar
Casa MonoFor fine dining, Eleven Madison Park and Jean Georges would indeed be good choices for the breadth of their menus and significant percentage of diners in your age group.

For 5 people next Tuesday, I would try to reserve at The Modern Bar Room, Scarpetta, Locande Verde, or Casa Mono as soon as possible as they are popular restaurants. Momofuku Ssam Bar only takes reservations for the Bo Ssam meal.

Rascal21 - If you can give the Chowhound community some more info to work with you may get more response. Can you tell us a little more about what you need? Price point per person, alcohol, area of the city, foods you like, atmosphere.
The first places that always come to mind when people ask for nice dinners are places like EMP, Jean George, Daniel but not knowing any more about what you are looking for these may be completely wrong for you.
