Tapas or other interesting food in Chandler area?

Help! Just found out Cyclo is closed since they're on vacation and need to find a new restaurant for my birthday dinner this Friday.
There will be 13 people in our group so I want it to be no more than $10 - $20 per person. I'm looking for a place close to Chandler/Mesa/Tempe/Ahwatukee and since it's my birthday, I get to force my husband to eat something outside of the box. Any great Asian, tapas or unique food suggestions in that area would be greatly appreciated!

  1. Since you were going to Cyclo - I would strongly reccommend Anise Vietnamese Restaurant - Warner & Dobson - Chandler. Excellent food - more toward the French end of Vietnamese IMHO. Clean, pleasant atmosphere. I have never been dissapointed by any of their food.

Thanks Lolaclaire. I will have to try them sometime as an alternative. My sister is suggesting My Arepa in Mesa though for something different as its Venezuelan. Has anyone tried them or have any feedback?

    2. I've heard good things about Cork in Chandler, but I've never been there myself. Looks like they have small plates during happy hour (4-6:30) and then a standard dinner (starters/salads, mains, desserts) menu in the evening. I don't know if the menu is exotic enough to satisfy your craving for something unusual (trust me, I can relate), but the dishes do sound tasty.

Thanks hohokam, I have been to Cork and it was very tasty. Even the standard dinner selections are small servings though and it gets pretty expensive, pretty quickly. My husband and I went to dinner there and it was almost $200 just for the two of us and we only had one glass of wine each. I would recommend you try it sometime but be prepared if you bring a 6'3" guy with a big appetite :)
