Recs in the vicinity of Old Ebbitt Grill

We're meeting our son for a drink at the Old Ebbitt Grill (675 15th St NW) and wondered if anyone has any dinner recommendations in that general area? Looking for something fun, casual and moderately priced. Many thanks in advance!

My son didn't recommend the food there. Maybe he's off base?

Happy hour oysters are well worth it -- the rest of the menu not so much

    2. Cieba is not far away and is fun and casual. I've had hits or misses there - but you can put together a decent meal from the appetizer portion of the menu. I think dinner there is better than lunch, and they have a good happy hour where appetizers are cheap and there are drink specials. Dark and stormys are always $5.

      1. Ebbit Grill certainly isn't bad, and fits your requirements. The best restaurant right over there is J&G Steakhouse at the W, which isn't a steakhouse. It's more expensive though, but not *that* bad - I think both my shortribs and my mother-in-law's chicken were in the $20-30 range, and they were both great.

But, I'd go with Potenza. Sit outside if it's nice. Salads and pizza are great bets - the pasta is okay. I warned you. These lamb meatball appetizers they used to have are really good also.

If you're visiting DC, you should have your son take you up to POV lounge for a drink instead. :-)
