Hey fellaz,

I'm from out of town but my girlfriend lives in atlanta. Any recommendations on a nice romantic restaurant in or around atlanta that i could propose? any advice/recommendations appreciated.

Canoe ... sit on the river ... not the best food in Atlanta, but good enough ... and the river setting is killer.

I second Canoe. You can walk along the river for some privacy for the big moment. Gorgeous! Years from now she'll remember the ambiance more than the food anyway, so it's not the best food in town that makes the evening.

Cannot go wrong with Bacchanalia or Floataway. Amazing food and they would help you do it up really well.

Depends on what you want to spend my friend....

You could make a road trip to Athens and go to Five and Ten or The National. We went a little while back for a getaway and stayed at the Hotel Indigo for a splurge. Made for a nice, quick trip.

If the weather wasn't so miserable, I'd get my river fix by packing a picnic and going to the Hooch National Recreation area. We like the access off Mt Paran down Harris Trail.

Way back when, I apparently was supposed to propose at/after a meal at Elizabeth's in Savannah. My wife got kinda ticked when I didn't. Took me a few months longer.

The Inn at Serenbe might be a good option, too.

I thought of another one: Aria! Now Aria is not my favorite restaurant - I've had some BIG misses on service that keep me away - but they have a table in the wine cellar that would give a very unique, private ambiance to the special night. If your girlfriend is a foodie, this could be very good. And I'm sure they take extra special care if you reserve that private table.

Hear me out---Agave in Cabbagetown. That's my Canadian beau did it and frankly, I'm glad. The waitstaff and patrons were ecstatic, there was a lovely glass or two of champagne, a really great meal, and even better, an engagement ring from the man who is now my husband. (We even ate our wedding night meal there, too!)
