One night in Asheville

Any suggestions for a good dinner in Asheville, NC? Looking for something more high end since this is an anniversary dinner, but also need to be able to get a reservation in somewhat short notice (two weeks). Far flung foods and well known chefs are both a plus. Many thanks.

We have actually had appetizers and wine at Zambra and then a short walk and dinner at Limones - a perfect evening!

We love Zambras and just had our anniversary dinner there. Great atmosphere for romance. Sharing tapas is romantic to me, too. And they've got a great Spanish wine list.

No Grove Park Inn! Overpriced and food is bad. Fig, Corner Kitchen or Admiral would be my top choices. Zambra is fun and good but the tapas can be a little hit-or-miss, IMO. Fig, CK, and Admiral are consistently good.

My choice would be The Admiral based only on the food, but it is kind of a dump. Perhaps, for an anniversary dinner Grove Park would be the better choice. However, if you want memorable food, check out The Admiral.

I wouldn't call the Admiral a dump by any means. It's a fun little spot...just not typical fine dining. Agreed, the food is amazing, and we have always had excellent service as well (albeit by a likely-to-be tattooed West Ashevillian). Wine list is nothing special if that is important to you. Reservations are a must. Creative, eclectic dining. Try a variety of the small plates if you go.

              No Grove Park!

Ms. Piggy. I certainly value your opinion but I would like to know what you dislike about Grove Park Inn. Actually I assumed the OP was visiting Asheville and might like to stay there for the anniversary. I have had outstanding experiences at the hotel and the food was not bad. I like the atmosphere of the dining room we celebrated in. I understand Admiral may have better food but I was calculating the advantage of the nice hotel, atmosphere, spa faciliites, et al as well as the dining room for the anniversary, not merely just the food 100%. Thanks.

Personally I think Zambra is the best fine dining restaurant in Asheville which would be my choice. I really like the atmosphere the most. The bar is nice and they serve Spanish/Mediterranean cuisine. I really like the menu best at Zambra. I like the Tapas a lot. The menu is more to my liking as there seems to be more multiple choices. It's a fun place. Others like Table which is more casual than fine dining IMO. And others like Admiral. There's also Cucina 24 and Fig Bistro. All are outstanding and you would not make a mistake going to either one. I don't know if you are visiting Asheville or not but the Grove Park Inn is a very nice place to celebrate your anniversary. Horizon's Dining Room would be an excellent choice for dinner on your anniversary if you were staying there. The food is outstanding but I think you would enjoy Zambra the most. If you are visiting then consider the Grove Park Inn. Good luck and happy anniversary. Enjoy Asheville. It's a beautiful city.
