Need knowledge about Noma - Copenhagen

Could anyone tell me about Noma... average price for a dinner etc.

Thanks all for the Copenhagen ideas. I'm looking forward to our trip there in October. We might get to Aarhuis, too, as my husband does work for a company there.

Off to the best in the world, June?

You trying to top me? There I was, thinking I was doing well popping off to #3 in a couple of weeks.

I would never attempt to top you, John. I am not a real gourmette or as knowledgeable as you!

We'll be in Copenhagen for business - but returning as you can see above. The boss has chosen the same venue for two, very different exhibitions. What is #3? To be honest, I don't think the boss would cover our eating at Noma.

          Awwww.

#3 = Fat Duck (as per the San Pellegrino awards). Mrs H is taking me for my 60th birthday present in a couple of weeks.

I will be anxious to hear about that! As you know, we've been to Bray several times for The Hinds Head. You should poke around Windsor a bit... it's a nice town.

Happy birthday in advance... my son is 5 August.

Royal Oak in Paley Street is worth a poke if you are sticking around, I now prefer it to the Hinds Head.

I'll remember that. It's an easy drive from where we live. Thanks!

It's while since we've been to Windsor. No lingering this trip, I'm afraid. Drive down, eat, sleep (hotel in Maidenhead), drive back next morning, go and get first free prescription and apply for bus pass.

That's a long drive but probably worth the effort. I hope the traffic will be kind to you. Ah, the freebies and joys of being 'old' in the UK. I've had all that for awhile and also a train card to save money. What a life!!

For prices, I would check the website, www.noma.dk. Personally, I like the tasting menus. Last time we had the basic one, and this time in August we will have the 12-course one. They do wine pairings as well, and I am told two people can split one. Most importantly, when do you plan to go. As of today, they are fully booked through October. For my August reservation, I had to wake up 4am NY time and the place was fully booked within 10 minutes of taking reservations. Noma is truly a spectacular experience.

I guess we're out of luck. We'll be there in early October. We'll be returning for additional work next March, so I'll keep all this in mind. Do they limit how far in advance one can book?

After being awarded No. 1 status by San Pellegrino, Noma has (perhaps temporarily) revised their reservation policy. It used to be that one could reserve three months prior to the day desired. Now, they designate one day prior to a particular month during which reservations can be made. So, for example, on August 2, starting at 10am cph time, one can make a reservation for November. I woke up at 4am nyc time to make my reservation for August, and the month was gone within minutes!

You can always try for the waitlist. I have no idea what the odds are of clearing, but it is worth a shot.

Noma is absolutely a wonderful experience and well-worth the effort.

If Noma doesn't work out, then I would give Formel B and Herman a good look.

For anyone visiting Copenhagen, a great research source is the website www.verygoodfood.dk.
