greek corner in cambridge?
anyone know if this place is open today? Seems to have received decent reviews. My guests from out of town are asking for greek food, but no one answers the phone (trying since yesterday) @ the greek corner. Maybe they just never answer? It's bit of a ways from where I am, would hate to find it closed when there.
And if they are open, what is a must try?
thought would try chicken and corner gyros, egg soup with lemon?

Greek Corner is good but not great. I've eaten there many times. I like the chicken sandwiches, fries, flaming cheese, etc... For guests, I would take them to the Aegean restaurant in Watertown (near Home Depot). Great atmosphere and great Greek food.

I always want Greek Corner to be better. I like their gyros, and the baked lamb is a muttony fatty guilty pleasure. But the kebabs I had last week were lackluster, and needed a huge spritz of lemon when I got home, the pilaf seemed like near east (from a box) pilaf and the salad was boring. This is not to say I don't stop in there when I'm wanting something easy and comforting, but it's just not that good.

re: yumyum
I have only been once and I had a pork souvlaki. It was excellent and very authentic (I am Greek American). We were there sort of late and my DH, who has been there many times, said it was the best food he had had there- I guess it helps if you don't go during typical lunch hours.

We're on the other side of the Cambridge, near MIT. What better options do you suggest?
FYI-- I did have someone confirm: Greek Corner is closed for vacation 7/2-7/9/2010.

My friends and I had dinner at Desfina in Cambridge a short while ago. We thought it was great! Especially the steak kebob and leg of lamb.

re: nsenada
The Greek fries are quite good.
Greek Corner is a nice place to get a gyro (when they're not closed for vacation) and the egg/lemon soup is good stuff. Service is so-so, especially when they're busy, but the food is pretty consistent. The pastitsio and kebabs are pretty good too, but I usually go for the gyro/soup combo option.
