Green Peppers

I've never grown regular sweet green peppers so this is a really novice question and I'm assuming I know the answer but there's a shade of blackness to my green peppers on the plant. I figure they are not ripe yet? Is this correct?

It's funny I can't remember details from a year ago. Are you growing a variety that should be dark.? There's some purple sweet peppers. We can't wait for our first peppers so we judiciously pick them as soon as they are large enough to use. I don't remember any dark shading. We grow several heirloom varieties. The darkness could be because of the variety. Ripeness does effect taste but a ripe sweet pepper usually turns red and become sweeter at that point. I think we call them green peppers because they are usually picked while they are still green. Go ahead and try one or two now if they are a good size.
