Noir, new coffee place at St. Clair and Christie -- great coffee, gorgeous interior

There's a new coffee place on St. Clair next to Stockyards - it's called Noir. They make great coffee and have a good selection of teas. Free Wifi, and a beautiful interior. Sandwiches, bagels, some nice homemade looking pies -- definitely enjoyed my morning coffee there today. Love this place - am worried since there were not enough people in there and I really want this one to stick around.

I go to Noir all the time now. I agree that we locals need to support independent establishments.
It's great for me as I tie the dog up outside (there is a water bowl for him) - and take my baby in with the stroller. It is very baby friendly!
I love that they use fair trade organic beans - and it is very nice inside!

would you say its baby friendly? Or more of a place to sit and read/work.

It's certainly big enough for strollers - I would certainly give it a try with my kids. It's definitely roomier than Starbucks in terms of getting them in and out. I think you would be fine.

I live around the corner from Noir -- they really have competition around here. Starbucks, CocoaLatte, Pain Perdu and World Class are all within 2 blocks. That said, they make a good Americano and seem super-nice!

Of all those places, I like Noir's brewed coffee best - they do a great dark roast. I disagree that cost is a factor - Starbucks is expensive comparatively and it's always packed. I will definitely keep on going to Noir. I am so dismayed by the number of places that have gone out of business in the area - there are papered windows everywhere you turn.

Went on Monday morning and there were no fresh baked goods. A bit of a bummer. Not interested in paying a lot for day old food. I wasn't totally impressed with the latte either. I'll give it another shot though.
And all of those places on St.Clair closed up because of the street car construction over the last few years.

I'm just so worried about this place - it's delightful, the service is so pleasant, it's a joy to sit in...but it's coffee is more expensive than Starbucks. I don't mind paying for service, independent operators, and a nice coffee, but I can't do it that often (same reason I don't go to Starbucks that often). It just makes me nervous for people who've obviously put in so much effort.

I like the look of Noir as well as the fact that it isn't a chain. Will make a point of going there for pies.... oh yummy. Thanks for mentioning it!

I was there last week and thought the same thing. Perhaps if people go there instead of Starbucks....
