Client dinner in Ventura County

Calling all hounds! I will be hosting a business dinner for two clients in Ventura County. I am looking for a more upscale restaruant with nice atmosphere and good food. Price point should be around $30.00 an entree. A nice wine list would also be a plus. While cuisine is not set, there would be a slight preference for Italian. In the past we've dined at Brooks, which, if nothing else is suggested may fit the bill. Thanks in adavnce.

If you can afford to spend a bit more try the Watermark downtown Ventura. A real step up from most places. Less expensive is Cafe Fiore also downtown for Italian food.

Depending on where you are in Ventura County (sort of like saying "looking for good dinner spot in LA County ..."), you might consider Brooks Restaurant if you are in Ventura city.

Just had a more than adequate dinner function there. Service was professional and efficient, food was fine (could've been better, but certainly felt it was "more better" than hotel fare).

Yes, go to Brooks in Ventura...the owner is an excellent chef. A few friends I went to high school together. He is a well rounded chef having cooked for famous restaurants all over the world.

The OP did say they had been to Brooks before ("In the past we've dined at Brooks, which, if nothing else is suggested may fit the bill.") and would go back for this if no other viable alternatives turned up.

goblue2010, where in Ventura County? Are you looking in Ventura or in the Westlake Village area? Ojai is also in Ventura County.

You might check out http://www.herzogwinecellars.com/ in Oxnard and see what you think. About 10 miles from Ventura, but an easy enough drive.
