Skowhegan's really out in the boonies. If someone can not give you specific recs, I'd Google 'Skowhegan restaurants' (which I just did) and search the menus and reviews.

Don't laugh!! Ken's Family Restaurant Bowling and Billiards, actually has a good Maine Fried Clam Plate. Empire Grill for Breakfast.

Empire Grill has closed I think. Ken's does indeed have some decent fried seafood and good clam chowder. Heritage House is good, and Gifford's Ice Cream is the original stand that eventually expanded all over New England. THE BANKERY, a downtown Skowhegan bakery is hit-or-miss but has good scones, good cookies, and an excellent chocolate-dipped brownie.

Uh-oh, if the Empire is closed what else do you like for breakfast?

I have in-laws in Skowvegas as we like to call it. We also tend to call it a culinary wasteland. Yes there is Heritage when it is open. Kens is okay for fried food. The Old Mill Pub is good for bar food. There is not much other than that. Better luck in Waterville, maybe...
