What should I learn to cook in Shanghai?

Hello everyone,

I will be traveling to Shanghai soon and would like to know what kind/dishes of Chinese (not necessarily Shanghainese) food I should try to learn to cook during my time there. I love eating out as much as the next person, but I would love to take this travel opportunity to learn a some Chinese cooking. Does anyone have any recommendations for "must learn" dishes or perhaps dim sum of any sort that is not too difficult and tasty?

Thanks!

Not too sure about the difficulty since it might be quite tedious, but if I were you I'd definitely try to learn to prepare Hong Shao Rou which is a traditional Shanghai delicacy! Rich in flavour and absolutely divine in meat texture, its my favourite Shanghai dish.

I love hong shao rou and make it often in a pressure cooker. Very good and there are many variations. You can be very creative and happy with your result.
