Quiet restaurant for group Kits/North Van

Hi all,
I'm new to this board. A group of us (ages 28-65) will be coming from around Canada/UK/USA to a wedding in Vancouver this month. Our home bases will be in Kits and North Van. We are going hiking in Lynne Valley on Saturday and on our way back (in cars) into the city will likely want to stop for a late lunch or early dinner. We don't want to spend more than $20 each, and might or might not have time to clean up after the hike. We'll probably skip apps and drinks and head right to the mains. My dad is almost deaf, and has a problem with very loud restaurants, so somewhere where we can hear each other and catch up is a must. No vegetarians in the group, and lots of adventurous eaters who want to try the Japanese / Chinese scene in Van.

Any recommendations based on these requirements?
Thanks!

Tang's Noodle House in Kitsilano (2807 West Broadway @ McDonald) is relatively quiet. I wouldn't call it a foodie restaurant but they do most dishes (spans many Chinese regional cuisines) pretty well at modest costs:

Dan, also on Broadway and 2 blocks east of McDonald, is quiet too, at 2511 W Broadway:

Yes, I guess quiet is never really a good sign for a restaurant is it! Thanks for the recommendations so far.

FYI - Dan's will only do a set menu $35, or $50 each for groups (there's 8 of us). No individual ordering.

Had to think about this one for a bit...

Hapa Izakaya on Yew and Cornwall is fairly quiet early in the evening. I can't really think of a Chinese restaurant in the area that I would consider quiet.
