Vancouver - need recommendations for Stanley Park/West End
My wife and I will be in Vancouver in August and we are staying at the Westin Bayshore right beside Stanley Park for a week.
Does anyone have any good food suggestions for that area? We eat everything, in all prices ranges...we are specifically looking for places within walking distance.

You are very close to the izakaya zone there: Kingyo, Zakkushi, Guu with Garlic, Hapa. There is also good ramen to be had there: Santuoka, Kintaro, Benkei, Motomachi Shokudo. For sushi...Miku is good.
Then there is the Gastown area which isn't really that far away...Salt, Judas Goat, Pourhouse, etc.
Post a reply if you need more recs and detail.

Do not miss out on Adesso Bistro. It is very close to where you are staying. I ate there tonight and it far exceeded my expectations. It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time!

Italian in a sea of asian food sounds like a nice change of pace. What did you have and what do you recommend?

I had the short ribs....they were outstanding! I also sampled the cornish hen and halibut and they were both excellent. We were a group of 6 so I tried out some appy's as well: oysters, spaghetti carbonara & bruschetta. You can't go wrong with any of the stuff I mentioned, it was all delicious.

I agree with the Lift and Carderos.
If you feel like a picnic though, go over to Urban Fare and pick up some yummy cheeses and snacks and walk over to the park.
If you want good steak I'd suggest Gothams. It's like Mortons....only way better.

Hi,
You will be staying in our Coal Harbour neighborhood where we've been staying (and eating) since May 2010. We've just posted our 2010 Vancouver Restaurant Reviews by ALEDM on Chow (at: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/724409?tag=main_body;topic-724409) and with pictures on our blog at: http://travelingloveaffair.blogspot.c...
In the Coal Harbour area (within walking distance) are two of our favorites: Le Gavroche and Raincity Grill for fine dining type meals. Have a look at our reviews of the other restaurants we tried in the West End for ethnic ideas. Unfortunately, we will have de-camped to Whistler by the time you have arrived. Have fun!
