Monday night birthday dinner?

Would any of our inveterate Chowhounders do me a HUGE solid and suggest a place to take my foodie, hard-to-please, adventurous eater for a birthday dinner on Monday?

Needs to be SPECIAL, but also open on Monday night, and also a place one might secure a rezzie on short notice. Doesn't have to be super fancy, but maybe not minimall exotic; just GOOD. Any amazing upscale ethnic or off-the-radar gourmet?

Many many thanks from a last-minute hubby...

  1. If you go to, you will find 93 restaurants that have an availability for Monday evening. Lots of interesting choices:

Akasha / organic, veg. friendly in Culver City

Beachwood, Venice / good bar scene, interesting bites

Cafe del Rey, Marina del Rey / solid, romantic

Choinois on Main, Santa Monica / upscale Chinese

And the list goes on and on.

Good luck on finding that special place !

    Beechwood Restaurant
822 Washington Blvd, Venice, CA 90292

9543 Culver Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232

    1. What are your preferred parts of town?

      1. i did the same thing as Bria, and those 93 options were actually only on the Westside, there are tons more if you also consider Hollywood, Silverlake, Los Feliz, Pasadena, get the idea :) a geographic range (and perhaps any budgetary restrictions) would be really helpful to narrow it down.

Checked Opentable - and yes indeed, many of our faves are open on Monday... Got rezzie at Osteria Mozza, which we tried when it opened but haven't been back. Don't care if the mozzarella comes from that (far cheaper) storefront on Vine, still heavenly. Next time I'll try for something a little more adventurous and off-the-grid... Thanks everyone!

Park's BBQ for Korean bbq maybe?
