Chicken and Dumplings

Looking for Chicken and Dumplings in LA or somewhere in the SFV. Oddly enough I can't seem to find it anywhere out here. In the south-east it seems to be at every diner, truck stop and greasy spoon.

R & R Soul Food across from Home Depot Center in Carson has a great chicken and dumplings for their Thursday menu special. Check out yelp for reviews and pics. I'm confident you'll like it. It's very, very tasty. Actually, a lot of their food (including breakfasts) is really good stuff. See urbanspoon for a menu.

You may want to try Venni Mac's M & M Soul Food, which is half a mile from R & R. I much prefer R & R, way better service and food. But I have heard good things about their chicken and dumplings.

        Venni Mac's M & M Soul Food used to be where R & R is located. The cooks at R & R bought out Venni Mac's and the new cooks at Venni Mac's, don't compare to the R & R cooks/owners.

I used to live in the South and the Southeast and frequently ordered chicken and dumplings in cafes and cafeterias. Nowadays, I make it at home every month or two -- it's not hard if you take care to cook the dumplings and the chicken and vegetables separately (and, please, dark-meat chicken only). I look forward to trying Servorg's suggestions. Pann's and the Bake N Broil should serve this dish, but I don't recall ever seeing it on their menus.

I know that Aunt Kizzy's in Marina Del Rey has it on their dinner menu, but I haven't tried it. I wonder about some of the soul food places around Inglewood or the Crenshaw District? I can't recall. I have had it at the Cheesecake Factory, but I doubt you are looking for that as a recommendation (although it was tasty).

My wife was kind enough to remind me that she liked the chicken and dumplings that Bertha's Soul Food serves on Wednesdays. I have to say I don't recall if I even tasted it, but my wife is one very picky eater. So I'll throw this in too:

Mr. & Mrs. Servorg, you are absolutely right! Bertha's serves up some scrumptious chicken & dumplings - a Wednesday lunch special.

I have no problem with Cheesecake Factory if the food tastes good. I didn't see Chicken and Dumplings on the menu on their website though.

It's their version of it, which they call Chicken and Biscuits: http://www.thecheesecakefactory.com/m...

This sounds like a tasty chicken dish, and I will try it the next time I'm at a Cheescake Factory, but chicken with shortcake biscuits on the side is really not chicken and dumplings (IMHO).
