Attention English bacon (and meat pie) fans

  • 4

I happened to be in Haddonfield yesterday, and came upon a source for English bacon, which I have seen people looking for on these boards. I'm putting this on the Philly boards because Haddonfield is just a Patco stop or two away from Philly.

The English Gardener Gift Shop (125 East Kings Highway) has a comprehensive range of British goods: candy, biscuits, every flavor of Walkers crisps you can think of, tea, scone mixes, and in the frozen section bacon and meat pies. Non-food-related items range from rugby shirts, to tea pots, tea towels, bath products and much more. And, I thought the prices were very fair.

No, I do not have any affiliation with the owners... I'm just a helpless Anglophile who was thrilled with this find! Oh, and as an added bonus, the shop-owner's British husband has opened aThe British Chip Shop at 146 King's Highway. I didn't get a chance to eat there, but others in Haddonfield gave it the thumbs up. Cheers!

Haha! Not sure about the MacDogal'ss, but the shop owner is very, very nice. If she doesn't have it, she might just get it in for you. Enjoy.

    2. Thanks for the info. As a British girl who arrived in the US when I was 12, I'm always looking for English goodies. Looked this place up on Map Quest and it's less than an hour from Harleysville, so definitely plan to check them out. Do you know their hours of operation - and also the Chip Shop. Didn't see that info on their website, but I will call them later today.

I happened to have grabbed a Chip Shop menu. Open seven days a week; Monday thru Friday, 11 to 8; Saturday and Sunday, 8 to 8. If you go there, please post here and let us know what you though of it :-)
