Restaurants near I605 in Los Alamitos?

We are looking for a place for dinner near the intersection of the I605 and the I405. We are picking up a granddaughter from her Navy ship docking near Seal Beach and taking her to dinner. Another family member is hoping to meet up after work and will be coming from LA on the 605. Our tastes lean toward Italian, Mexican or plain American (hamburgers, steaks, ribs, etc.)

You didn't mention fish but I am throwing it in anyway. The Original Fish Company in Los Alamitos just off the 605 at the Katella exit. http://www.originalfishcompany.com/ They do steaks all though I must admit to never having one because their fish is what I go for. Both their Manhattan and Boston chowders are excellent as well. As you head south on Los Alamitos, it turns into Seal Beach Blvd.

I love The Original Fish Company. The clam chowder is excellent!

That is only a few miles from one of the best Mexican food places in the greater LA area, Enrique's in Long Beach. They have an amazing pork shank, but I have liked everything I've had there over the years.

A really lovely place - a "Hidden Gem" in Los Alamitos, is Shenendoah at the Arbor. This is an indoor/outdoor restaurant that is just perfect for a relaxing small group or family gathering , though not for lots of small or rambunctious kids - tables are often closely placed, and dining is apt to be too gracious and leisurely for the younger crowd. The food and hospitality is definitely Southern-oriented (but lots of delicious selections that are not deep-fried!), and the tables outside are under shady trees and large umbrellas. Coming in from the parking area to the back, you pass through a charming garden with koi fish pond. The restaurant shares an extended lot with several other small businesses (a day spa and a garden gift shop) which add to the ambiance. Be sure to call ahead and make a reservation, and request the outdoor seating if possible. It's lovely to wait in the garden area if your table's not quite ready or while waiting for the rest of your group to arrive. (On sunny days you might want to have a hat available). The street-side face of this complex is composed of several small cottages along a busy street, rather than a building that looks like a restaurant, so don't be surprised if you miss it driving by the first time. This is about 2 - 3 minutes farther north than The Original Fish Company.

Did Shenendoah used to be in Long Beach?

Yes, at least, that's what I heard. That's been over five years ago, I think. We've been to this location several times now and really enjoy it.

Good hamburgers at Cafe Del Sole at 3251 Katella in Los Alamitos, in a strip mall just west of Los Alamitos Bl., on the north side of the street, across from Polly's. They also have some Mexican dishes.

Although not particularly freeway close, You might consider Walt's Wharf in Seal Beach just a couple of blocks up from the pier. Mostly fish, great grilled artichoke appetizer, and the ambiance of the area for a post-dinner walk can't be beat.
