Help! Florence, SC
Just found out i am going to work in Florence SC for 2 weeks. I am a western gal and would like any recommendations for good places to eat in the area. Would like someplace where it is not all fried and smothered in sauces/gravy.

We also tried Redbone Alley based on the suggestions here and loved it. We were on a stopover off 95 for the night and this restaurant was a great place for us to have a fun night after being in the car all day. Loved the atmosphere and decor (felt like you were outside in a court yard). Loved the live music and my daughter loved the real ice cream truck inside with free ice cream for all. My hubby loved his shrimp and grits and I liked my grilled blackened shrimp. Manager came by to see if everything was good . And friendly lady at neighboring table suggested a delicious pound cake that was grilled and served with caramel and bananas which was very good. Will definitely stop again on our trip on 95 in June!

Redbone Alley is a really special place. They serve a chicken salad and fresh fruit plate that is gorgeous, fresh, delicious and so huge. Redbone offers a drive-up-take-out service that my mother uses all the time.
Across the street from Redbone Alley is another popular restaurant called Starfire where you will find a large menu which includes some nice salads and good Greek food.
Roger's Barbecue is wonderful and so is Bazen's. I hope you will try both while you are in town. I miss the way Southerners prepare vegetables and sides. It is not all unhealthy, although you will definitely find macaroni and cheese, biscuits, casseroles and fried foods in both places.
46tricia, I hope you enjoy Florence.-----

Hi,
I can't help you much, but I can tell you there's a great farmer's market on 52.
