Crabcakes?
Howdy, all. I have a sister and brother-in-law traveling to New England from California, and thence to Philadelphia. They have a hankering for Crab Cakes...any joy in Phila? I grew up in Delaware, and prefer to get my crabcakes either in DE or MD, but my husband thinks Phillie should also be in the crab cake zone. What say you?

I just had a crabcake sandwich at Varga Bar over the weekend that was pretty tasty. Lots of places have them on their menus, and they are largely good, but I can't think of any that have especially "wowed me." But the food at Varga is really good. My husband got the kobe hot dog and said it was one of the best dogs he's ever had. Plus they have a nice draft beer list if that interests you.

We like the crabcakes at Nan, the French/Thai restaurant at 40th and Chestnut. Their cucumber soup is amazing, too. byob.
The best crabcakes I have had recently were at Caffe Aldo Lamberti, on Route 30 in Cherry Hill. They were one of the choices at a large party there, and they were outstanding.-----
