Looking for “Causal/GREAT” Dinner Recommendations “AROUND” LA area

Have business with some reps from the Navy in several locations “around” Los Angeles – including Corona/Riverside area, Burbank area, Camarillo area and finally near LAX.

Not sure about there tastes so would like recommendations for the more tame, American, Pub, Steak, Italian, etc.

Also on their per diem food allowances would like to keep the dinner tab with a drink and tip to about $30-$40 per person.

Appreciate your thought. . . .

  1. Around LAX, given those restrictions, your best bets would be Paul Martin's (might nudge above the budget depending on what you order but there are three course specials for around $29, including a pretty good roast beef on Fridays and Saturdays) or Truxton's. For Italian, the "choice" would be a branch of the chain, Il Fornaio. There is also a McCormick & Schmick in that same area but I am not a fan.

    Truxton's American Bistro

    Paul Martin's American Bistro
2361 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 180, El Segundo, CA 90245

      New Trial -

Both Paul Martin's and Truxtons' appear well aligned with what I was thinking about.

A couple of the guys are really into craft beers - would you have any idea as to the beer selection at either?

Also, as a vote - which one do you believe offers the better total overall dining experience?

Overall, Paul Martin's is the clear winner on most counts (but I have taken clients to Truxton's and they have enjoyed it). For craft beers, I think Paul Martin's might also have the edge, even without the hanging chads--though I usually stick with the wines there (lots of choices by the glass and generous pours). I could not find PM's beer list on line but here is what Truxton's is offering:

For beer why not go to Father's Office in Culver City. Not too far from LAX and should suit the budget I think.

If craft beer is important, NONE of the previous suggestions come close! Father's Office is the place! Simmzy's is still on my must try list.

For good food and beer near LAX, Simmzy's in Manhattan Beach is nearly impossible to beat. Tomkins Square (at Lincoln/Manchester) is another good option.

I'm sorry that you have so many chain suggestions in this thread, but in case you want more ideas here are a few other options: Second City or Good Stuff in El Segundo.

        2. I'm sure from your description of what you are looking for that BJ's in Burbank would fit the bill for you and your guests. While it's a chain they have a lot of nice beers to choose from and a very extensive menu for dealing with unkown tastes of several people.
