Roy's has a good Aloha happy hour: a boatload of tropical cocktails, martinis and mojitos for $5 as well as about 6 apps for $5 each. We had the lobster potstickers, spicy tuna roll and wagyu beef sliders with sweet potato fries. Some real nice sauces on the plates, good presentation and their drinks are quite good. I do like their classic Mai Tai, I think it has a hint of ginger, a nice twist.

Which Roy's? We called the Roy's at Desert Ridge a few months ago and were told in AZ the Aloha Happy Hour was only at the one in Chandler. I'm hoping now that it's summer, the Desert Ridge location has it too, much more convenient for us.

Somewhere I've been jotting down the current Phoenix summer deals, I'll have to find it and post. One I remember is Sassi. They're doing a prix-fixe 3-course menu for $35, and we're planning on visiting for their $7 Summer Bar Menu:
      http://www.sassi.biz/images/file/Summ...

We were at Prado and BLT Steak this past Thursday night, and notice they both also have a summer 3-course prix-fixe, $39 at Prado, and $36 at BLT Steak.

Yep, we had Aloha Hour at the Desert Ridge Roy's (in the J W Marriott hotel) this past Friday. Enjoy!

I think the Roy's up north had to wait for dispensation from Marriot before they could discount their happy hour. The Chandler location had been running it a long time -- it's one of my favorites. The chef will sometimes send out little culinary experiments to the people in the bar -- some very tasty an inventive bites have come my way, gratis. Both locations are still doing their 3-course summer prix fixe, as well.

Thanks for the update on Roy's Aloha Hour at Desert Ridge. We finally got there yesterday (Labor Day). What a great Happy Hour! The $5 cocktail list: http://www.roysrestaurant.com/cuisine...
Also wine (reds, whites, and a sparkling rosé), and a pale ale for $3. Some menu options were calamari with Thai basil dipping sauce, tempura-crusted ahi roll, wagyu beef sliders with sweet potato fries, tenderloin skewers, and lobster potstickers (my favorite).

They say they're pretty much busy every day (Aloha Hour is daily) and HH prices are in the bar and on the lanai.

1988 Martini with lychee, Strawberry-Basil Martini (E ordered it without basil), and Fred and Ginger (Hennessy cognac Sidecar with Canton ginger liqueur):

Went to Roy's last night...just want to hop on the bandwagon, it is very good - solid drinks, but they could use a bit heavier pour...but maybe that is just me :)

I like Daily Dose as well...cant beat a dr hendricks

roaring fork / wildfish also have a pretty good happy hour

Dapuma - Thanks for the Daily Dose tip, I didn't know they had happy hour and man does it look tasty! Lots of interesting apps for half off 4-8 daily. I have yet to try this place but I loved Fusion so I'm assuming the food at DD is pretty good.

Have you tried any of the DD apps? Do you know if happy hour is only at the bar and/or if it's tough to get a spot? Thanks!

Happy Hour is anywhere you sit, their Chicken Nachos are awesome...so far i havent had anything bad there, most of it is really good - havent had any other apps - but their sandwiches, burgers, breakfast are all great - don't think you can go wrong

Another nice thing is that their apps are the full apps you would get during non-happy hour, so it is just a smoking deal IMO

If you are getting a drink order the dr hendricks...pure awesomeness :)

Thanks for the info! I actually ended up checking out Daily Dose's HH on Sunday and loved it. Two key things make it easy to hit - 1. It's every single day! and 2. It lasts until 8 p.m.! No need to really "plan" in order to make it to this HH which is really nice. As for the food, we tried the jalapeno/cilantro hummus (really good/spicy with tasty/herbed pitas), mac and cheese w/ chorizo (naughty but yummy, large portion), calamari (ok) and meatballs (another huge portion, good but think we were too full to enjoy). Next time, I'd order the hummus and probably the chicken nachos as they sound really good and have Dapuma's thumbs up.

I highly suggest checking this HH out, it's one of the better food-based HH's I've tried (haven't hit Roy's HH but that one sounds pretty great as well).

I have tried alot more of the HH menu now, i would say the calamari is just ok...meatballs pretty good and are huge, havent tried the mac and cheese yet (sounds awesome that is my next item to try), the pulled chicken mushroom thing is pretty awesome, would certainly get that again

Fridays is great because burgers are half price...if you are looking for low key and inexpensive - cant be 5-6 burgers and if you want to stick cheap 13 for 6 domestic drafts...ill stick with the dr hendricks though :)

Roy's is very good. Best overall value I'd say is between Fleming's and McCormich & Schmick. Both have reduced prices on beverages and food including great burgers. I believe Fleming's is $5 and M&S $2. Wildfish used to have excellent prices on appetizers but I'm not sure where they are anymore. Marcellino's at Scottsdale Fashion Square has a good happy hour program in the lounge.

              "summer specials" ...

J&G Steakhouse at the Phoenician (where Mary Elaine's used to thrive) has a $35 three course early bird menu, listed at the "Neighborhood" on their web site. The catch is it's only offered between 5-7 PM and selection is a bit limited (choose between 3 apps, 3 entrees, 3 desserts). http://www.jgsteakhousescottsdale.com...

              T. Cook's at the Royal Palms Resort has a $40 three-course dinner menu from Sunday thru Thursday. Looks like all the normal first courses and desserts are available at this price, as are most of the entrees, with a $5-15 add-on for three entree items (lobster and larger steaks). http://www.royalpalmshotel.com/pdfs/S...

Good chance to check out some of these pricier fancy places at bargain rates.

Had a nice happy hour in the lounge at Eddie V's in DC Ranch. I believe the happy hour is all night long every night during the summer, but double check on that before you head up. For sure its all night on Sun and Mon and 4-7 Tues-Sat.

They had about 6 wines and 6 cocktails at $5 a glass and $2 off all other drinks. Strange there were no whiskey cocktails on their list, mostly vodka, rum and tequila drinks. We had lemon drops and a cosmopolitan and they were fine. We did get two very different lemon drops from different bartenders. The first one was plenty sweet, but a bit light on the alcohol and the second was almost all vodka and hardly any lemon or syrup. Somewhere between these two was a happy medium, and I'd say they could stand to tighten up their cocktail recipes and/or execution.

We had the lobster bisque for $6 and it was a large bowl full portion, really nice. Not the most incredible bisque, but tasty and it had several nice hunks of lobster meat in the middle. Really a steal at the price. They brought out hot bread that was dense and moist on the inside and crusty on the outside, pretty good.

Next we had the scallops which were in too strong of a teriyaki sauce, it overwhelmed the delicate seafood. Well cooked, though. Then we had the "hot rock" wagyu beef. You cook the thin slices yourself on a hot rock they bring out. Garnished with green onions and shitake mushrooms and soy sauce. Simple and tasty, although I'd rather not have to cook it myself. $52 for 4 cocktails and three apps + tip.

Its a nice dark bar, pretty full at 5:30, the crowd was a bit older, probably everyone in their 50s or 60s. Some live jazz was starting up as we left about 6:30. Not a bad spot if you are up that way.

Picazzo's (Now Picazzo's Organic Kitchen, I think) is now running Organic Happy Hour from 3-7p in their bar and patio areas. Half-price organic cocktails, sustainable and/or biodynamic wines, and half off organic appetizer plates. Good at all of their locations. I find this notable because there are so many happy hours that cut off at six, and it's sometimes hard to meet friends out in time to catch reduced prices.

We were at T. Cook's for the first time last week for Happy Hour and $2 Taco Thursday, and found out it also runs until 7 pm. Half-price on all appetizers, 6$ for any of their Specialty Cocktails and house wine by the glass. Excellent cocktails too. It's my current favorite Negroni in town. Jason, their resident mixologist, uses the new Martini & Rossi Rosato Vermouth. The $2 taco specials are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and are available all night after 5 pm. Happy Hour is 5-7 pm. They also have a reverse Happy Hour 10 p-midnight.

Do they have any other specials on Monday Wednesday Friday?

                      How are the tacos?

I like their regular menu...are the apps the same as they serve for the full priced menu? Might have to get over there for the mussels...although it looks like they changed the sauce they put on them with the new menu for the fall...that cream sauce was so amazing

Well, I have to say the tacos were delicious! We were actually there that night because I had won a contest on FaceBook where they asked for taco ideas. If they chose yours, you received 10 free tacos and the tacos were named after you. So I especially loved "Christina's Taco's" - hoisin-roasted duck tacos with mango/pineapple/cilantro salsa and spicy Sriricha crema. ; )

They make a different taco every night and then post them on Facebook and Twitter (link below). For example, last night's were dessert tacos - tempura strawberry with rosemary mascarpone, candied oranges and balsamic gremolata. More info:

Not sure of other specials, though sometimes they have 1/2 bottle of wine specials Sun-Thurs. The only item we tried off the HH menu were the bruschetta trio, which were very good: Tomato & basil; brie cheese, figs & prosciutto; Boursin & feta with roasted Portobello mushrooms. The Lounge menu is differrent from the Main/Dinner Menu and the half-prices apps are only for this page:
