Saigon R is Moving!
Heard that it is definite, Saigon R is moving after 7 successful years in the 8-table place in Englewood to larger quarters at the vacant space on Highwood Ave. in Tenafly that used to be "Cafe Cafe".
I don't know if this is a good move, the Englewood location is well-established, has a very loyal following, and is busy most of the time including weeknights! (We've been there several dozen times!) Although not perfectly authentic Vietnamese, the owner/chef has taken some traditional dishes and customized them in her own unique way, and the results are wonderful!
The staff says that they get a lot of complaints about the parking situation, but Englewood is a revival town and the restaurant seems to have built up quite a following of folks willing to find parking in the town. Englewood is certainly easier to park in than Ridgewood, especially after 6PM!
Perhaps the owner could find a way to keep both restaurants going, I think to close such a successful location and hope for all the customers to follow to the new location is a bit risky. Humans are habitual, and many don't like change.
Note to KT: In your move transition, please do not take advice from so-called restaurant "experts" that are consulting on the basis of getting free food in return!
