Crawfish Boil in Chicago, suggestions?

Digging into a cajun Crawfish boil is my favorite get-messy and chowdown eating activities. Does anybody know any restaurants that offer this? ive looked on previous Chowhound posts and cant seem to find anything.

If you're looking close to the city, I don't know of any offhand. However, if you're willing to travel a bit, Ron's Cajun Connection, in Utica, IL, is the best cajun food to be found anywhere in the area. Ron's got customers that travel over 100 miles just to come for dinner. You can find his web site at

Also, he's up for ABC Nightline News People's Platelist award. You can catch a short little video of him there. If you like his place, you can vote for him at...

I don't see anything about a crawfish boil on their website.

Note: "We won't have another crawfish boil again until December or January."

Ron's at least looks like the real deal. (See attached photo.) Too bad it's so far out -- you might as well keep going to Louisiana.

Crawfish season in Louisiana generally runs from sometime in february and through about early May. The season usually peaks for the saturday after good friday boils that are very popular to close out lent.

Domestic, farmed crawfish are available outside that window (you can order the live item now at various places around the Web). I don't know for certain, since I've never been to the place, but I imagine that Ron's Cajun Connection uses the farmed variety -- or maybe imports -- when they have one of their December crawfish boils.

I love this place! We usually go to Starved Rock for a major hike and then eat, eat , eat at Ron's.

Utica is in dragonland... anyone tried pappadeaux's boil when it's in season? I think they only do it from march to summer? couple of locations closer to chicago.

They do crawfish boils periodically through the year. They are great and a good time. You could call them and see when the next one is.
