Any experience yet with Press 200 in New haven?
American small plates are their specialty. I recently dined there and was vey impressed with the taste & presentation of most of the offerings. The sea bass in particular was excellent, as were the desserts. However, most servings were vey small, difficult for sharing (if anyone had touched my sea bass, I would have stabbed them with the fork.) Party of three had 7 apps. & entrees, total. Service was very professional & helpful, but the $$$ ( $300 with tip) was difficult to justify. I'd like them it do well, a huge improvement over Nikita. Any thoughts?
I haven't been there yet, but one of my co-workers was there said that while the food was very well prepared, the "small plates" bordered on absurd (obviously sharing your sentiment that the portions were laughably small). She said that it ended up being very expensive and everyone left still hungry..
I wish them well, but it seems clear that they must adjust their definition of "small plates" to something far more viable, particularly in this economy.
