Reception Site CT/NY border
Hi! I am recently engaged and I am trying to decide where to have my wedding reception. My fiancee and I are thinking that we would like a September 2011 wedding somewhere between The Tribury area in CT and White Plains NY.
Good food and open bar are quite important to me, but so is cost. I really don't want to spend over 125 per head, and anything cheaper would be amazing.
I have a quirky style, so I am not necessarily in the market for a traditional wedding hall, it could be a restaurant, or some other type of venue.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!!!
I'm not sure of costs, but there is a pretty stone building in the Renaissance hotel on the border of White plains and harrison. I went there for a daytime bar mitzvah and it was very pleasant. The Delamar in Greenwich might be a nice choice. We attended an event at the Harvest restaurant in Hastings and it was very pleasant. Cocktails outside overlooking the hudson and a simple dinner. Don't be afraid to negotiate for the price you need. Maybe you don't need a full open bar, but just beer, wine and some type of signature drink (harvest serves a wonderful sangria). I totally overdid the food, etc at my wedding and did not need half as much as I had.
Congratulations and enjoy the day.
$125 per guest with tax and tip? Also how many people are you inviting? Good luck in this area if you want a Saturday night wedding. Maybe Antun's in Elmsford but the food is pretty mediocre at best. There is a bunch of threads on here already.
Would you consider the Hyatt in Greenwich/Old Greenwich? It sounds boring, but the inside is very beautiful with an indoor garden, bridge etc.. for pix. They are very easy to work with and you could really tailor the event to your needs. Food and bar were very important to us, too. They really went above and beyond for us and people are still talking about our wedding.
You may want to check out Restaurant 123 (on Rt. 123) in Vista, NY, just down the road from Ridgefield or up from New Cannan. We had a wonderful dinner there, with cocktails on the covered patio. Don't know how many people the restaurant can accommodate., but worth checking out.
ooops- it may have been torn down and made into a lowes theatre?
Since I'm giving outdated advice. In 1990, My wedding was at the Baldwin Piano family estate in Bedford. It's actually on the grounds of a synagogue but a separate building. Gorgeous grounds, etc. Call the temple Shaari Tfila in Bedford and speak to them about using it. VBack then we could without using the temple, etc. We brought our own caterer.
