need affordable restaurants near washington nationals ballpark and downtown
hey guys sorry for last minute but need some help need affordable but good dining options in dc near the wasington nationals ballpark as well as downtown. in town this weekend. i won't be driving so looking to eat near ballpark about a 10 mile radius or in downtown area. looking to pay around 10 to 20 bucks for entree. any help is appreciated. mainly looking for dinner options.
About a mile from Nationals Park is an area called Barrack's Row. There are several places there including Matchbox. The Navy Yard Metro station is on the Green Line and can widen your radius and upgrade your choices. Have you read about the "Rays the Steaks" that opened in SE DC?
Please help us by giving more detail such as type of cuisine: Asian, Burgers, Pizza Southern, BBQ etc.
$10 dinner entrees are hard to find anywhere these days in DC, unless you want a burger.
The Green line station at U Street has a lot of reasonably priced options. To start with, there's Ben's Chili Bowl, as well as several good Ethiopian places close to that station.
Matchbox is a good option for pizza or a plate of miniburgers, at the Gallery Place location or on Capital Hill.
Since you won't be driving, Rays the Steaks East River is probably not an option unless you want to take a cab (though getting one to come back to get you afterward might be tricky.)
btw: you can bring food (and unopened bottled water) into the stadium with you if it's wrapped up and in a soft sided cooler.

+1 to Barracks Row. It is on 8th St SE from Penn down to M. There are Mexican, Salvadorean, Indian, Chinese, and pub food options in the $10-20 entree range. A little further out at 14th an Penn, La Lomita is a great neighborhood Mexican place. There is a free shuttle bus to the park from some of the Barracks Row pubs and I see jittneys plying the area. It is also walkable (about 1 mile).
Third Barracks Row. Levi's Port Cafe is closest to the stadium. The BBQ is just okay, but the mac and cheese is the best in the city, as are the fried porkchops and collard greens. Zest Bistro is nearby. Kinda off the radar, but tasty lamb dishes. Matchbox is good, but tends to get crowded quick, as does Ted's Bulletin nextdoor.
