Good fresh fish on the south coast

Can anyone recommend a good place for fresh fish and chips in either Brighton or Southampton, want to visit the seaside while it's hot and get some nice traditional fish and chips while there.

I suggest giving Brighton a miss - it will be hideously packed, and the beach is rubbish, and going to Ramsgate instead for fish and chips at Eddie Gilberts. Best I've had for a long time.

Bournemouth has a few, in particular Chez Fred in Westbourne.

I asked the same question about Brighton on another board and was told that the chippy on the pier is best bet. It was shut on the day I was there and I ended up at a vile place on the front.
