restaurant supply store in the flatiron?

I'm trying to remember the name / location of a restaurant supply shop in the flatiron neighborhood. I don't know if it is still there or not. But I remember it was near all those art supply stores like Sam Flax and AI Friedman. Ring a bell?

  1. Are you thinking of the baking supply store? The name of which I don't remember.

Wow, that was fast! No, it wasn't N.Y. Cake, it was a traditional restaurant supply store like the ones you find down on the Bowery. Very narrow, high ceilings, chock full of stainless steel pots and pans. I'm actually looking for a source in the city that carries the brown takeout containers you find at Whole Foods. I've tried several places on the Bowery to no avail... that place was my last hope!

Maybe try calling the restaurant supply store in Chelsea Market?

I've never heard of JB Prince, and I'm curious to check it out. Beats trekking down to the Bowery!

i forgot to include the link to their website earlier:

        2. I think I know of the place you are talking about. If memory doesn't fail me the store was not at street level. Once inside it had extremelly high ceilings (like a loft) and every inch was piled with all kinds of cooking gadgets and stuff. Unfortunately I don't remember the name either, but it was definitely in the Flatiron area and I seem to remember they moved many years ago. I must have been there over ten years ago.

Oddly enough I walked by Broadway rest. supply on 17th st. earlier today. It was definitely at ground level. I didn't have time to stop in but it did look like a skinny, miniaturized version of a bowery kitchen supply store, lots of china cups in the window.
