I found a few squash blossoms at the farmer's market in the Barton Creek mall.
Anybody have a regular source for them during the summer?
I fried some last week (simple ricotta filling) and they were (along with a great mixed grill from Johnny G's) one of the best meals I ever had.
Green Gate Farms, a place I have been meaning to give a huge, honkin' shout out to here, will harvest squash blossoms upon request. The lovely farmer told me they expect to have nice fat blossoms throughout the summer, and they will be .75 cents each. Again, they do not put these out for sale, you ask and they go pluck 'em. Genius. Everything about this moderately priced, abundant and exciting farm is worth checking out, especially if you are tired of the "scene" at some of the in-town markets.
