Does anyone know of a place that ships grapenuts ice cream? I am a transplanted Mainer in California and miss my New England treats.

We learned about gape nuts ice cream from our next door neighbors who came from northern Maine. She'd make her own starting with a custard-vanilla base and then, at the end stirring in the grape nuts cereal. I'd think that if you didn't want to do it from scratch, you could soften up some good quality vanilla ice cream and then stir in the grape nuts. We enjoyed it as well. In fact, occasionally I'll sprinkle some of the cereal over ice cream still. Though I don't think it has sugar in it, just barley as I recall, it has its own natural sweetness.

I've seen it at Gifford's shops. Perhaps they can help you get some.

Gifford's Grapenut is my FAVORITE ice cream. Love it.

Beals also has Grapenut listed on their flavors. Not sure if they ship or not

Ice cream doesn't ship very well...there used to be an ice cream website that shipped and they went out of business quickly, too many re-ships of melted ice cream I suppose.

I know how you feel about grapenut ice cream though! I soften some grapenuts cereal in a 1:1 ratio with whole milk, let it soak for a couple of hours, and then smoosh it into some Trader Joe's Vanilla Ice Cream. Not the real thing but it'll do in a pinch!
