looking for suggestions for good restaurant open for Sunday dinners
hi :) i'm travelling to NYC at the end of july. my friend and i are looking for a good restaurant to go to on a sunday night. we're looking to spend about $80-$100 each.. preferably gratuities and tax included..
we're looking for some place a little more fancy with good atmosphere.
i've looked at a couple of places but not sure whats the best place to go:
DB Moderne
Terrace at Jean Georges
Gramercy Tavern
Nougatine at Jean Georges

I am not a fan of Gramercy Tavern's Dining Room. Not only have I never had an outstanding meal there, but the worst meal I had in 2009 took place there. I do like the food in the Tavern Room though (different menu). Obviously, more casual than the dining room, and they don't take reservations.

dbBistro Moderne is a very good option. But an even better one in the Daniel Boulud "empire" is Cafe Boulud. It's his second-tier restaurant, but in every way, it's first-rate! While it might be difficult for you to stay within your budget there, it's very well worth it because Chef Gavin Kaysen's superb cuisine is some of the best in the city right now.

Nougatine's food is very good. The Terrace is, I think, the outdoor seating for Nougatine, not for Jean Georges. (Jean Georges is closed on Sunday.)

If you like fish and seafood, I highly recommend Oceana. Delicious food, excellent service, and very nice atmospherics. If you want to dine al fresco, there is a nice outdoor patio.

For Italian, I agree with Littleman's Scarpette suggestion.

Gramercy Tavern is outstanding. Also I really like Gotham Bar and Grill. Del Posto is a great choice. Consider Balthazar also. Scarpetta seems to get the most attention on this board recently.
