Looking for cozy italian or tapas bar

i

Hi! We are 4 friends from Montreal visiting your city this weekend. We are celebrating a birthday and are going for dinner on Sat night. We are looking for an italian or tapas restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. We would like to spend a few hours eating and drinking without anyone rushing us (if that`s even possible). We enjoy wine so wine list is important.
Thanks in advance!

How about Quinto Quarto? It's a beautiful location over on Bedford St in the West Village and when I tried the Pasta Prix Fixe there, it was both delicious and entirely unfinishable. We had all more than given up when we found out an entree might potentially be coming in addition to our trio of Becco-style served-at-your-table pastas, we opted out and barely got through dessert.

Delicious and unpretentious, though there are plenty of other options even in a four block radius ('ino, Bar Pitti, Da Silvano, Pepe Rosso, etc...)

    Let us know!

I was going to suggest Gottino too, but you really can't linger there for hours. There will be people lined up against the wall waiting for bar seats to open up.

Right? The owners first place is dell'anima and they just opened wine bar Anfora.

Not Anfora! The acoustics are terrible, it's not cozy at all. We tried to go, walked in, walked right out, we couldn't imagine sitting there for one drink let alone a few hours.

Il Posto Accanto was a spot on recommendation. Also check out Casellula, delicious cheese-focused wine bar in midtown. You might like Grape and Grain, 'inoteca, and
              Bar Henry as well.

Thanks for heads up on Anfora. Had really looked forward to trying it considering what a hit L'artusi is.

'inoteca LES is usually swamped on a weekend night, there could be a long wait for a table, and a line out the door.

We had drinks at Butter before going to In Vino for dinner and had a great time. I loved their wine list and our server made some amazing recs. For dinner we shared a plate of meat, fried asparagus and the meatballs. For the main, both of us had porcini ravioli, one had the duck and the other one had their risotto. Thanks for recommending that place, it was exactly what we were looking for.
