rollie's root beer

At the Munich Haus in Chicopee this weekend (fabulous schnitzel and sausages), I had Rollie's root beer, whose label said it was made with maple syrup, honey, and cane sugar. The honey came through deliciously, the maple syrup not so much. It was really good, though, and my husband said it brought back strong memories of when his family made root beer at home. It's bottled out of Holyoke, MA, but I couldn't find anything on Google about it. Does anyone know where I might find it in the Boston area? Any leads are much appreciated. And I'm posting on the SNE board, too, in the hopes that a local would have some leads.

  1. Sounds wonderful! I haven't seen it anywhere before, but this is the company that brews it, and they have a list of locations where you can buy their products: http://www.papercity.com/locations.html

I would make sure to call first though, as that company makes many other products and each location may not carry the root beer.

If you are ever in Milwaukee, try the Golden Maple Root Beer from Lakefront Brewery, which is also sweetened with maple syrup.

Thanks for the tip about Lakefront Brewery-sounds great! I did look up that Paper City site and it seemed like the locations dealt more with their craft beers. But I could always just call their listings and see for myself.

      Thanks again!

    2. I'm not sure if they have this specific root beer (which sounds great, by the way) but Leo's Place in Harvard Square usually has at least a dozen different bottled root beers in the cooler. I probably wouldn't go there just for the food, but it's a very friendly old-fashioned lunch counter and the root beer selection really is unusually wide. Certainly worth checking out.

Good timing, because I'll be in Harvard Square this weekend. I'll be sure to check out Leo's. Thanks!
