Rome in October

Have been many times in spring and summer but this will be our first early fall visit. What are the special foods of the season and where to best get them?

Love vignarola, baby lamb, puntarelle, artichokes, etc. Out early spring and then - presto - gone in the blink of an eye. What can you suggest we look forward to mid-October?

  1. Mushrooms of all sorts. It's peak mushroom season after the rain begins again. Still plenty of late summer vegetables too. I always think that the peppers taste best late in the season, so some delicious pollo con peperoni, MMmmmmm. Apples and pears are arrving too. Oh and don't miss the grapes. Look for the pizzutello (I think that's the name) in the markets. This link also showed up in the related topics section. Looks good.
