Brats, beer and curds in Milwaukee

marciamarciamarcia Jun 27, 2010 04:21 PM

I will be visiting Milwaukee very soon. I have heard of Milwaukee brat house. It was appealing because it had several different brats and fried cheese curds. Am I going in the totally wrong direction? I hate touristy places. Any advice on brats, beer and curds?

Milwaukee Brat house is on Old World Third St. I wouldn't call it a tourist trap, but it's on a street with several bars and restaurants. Bratwurst and other sausages aren't something that locals typically go out for (they're more for quick outdoor dining, such as at festivals, tailgates and backyard grilling), so most bars/restaurants don't have a huge selection. If you'd like to take some home, Usinger's is right across the street and will ship them home to you! Good luck!
