Brewing beer, curing meat, or making cheese?

Folly Beach update

suse Jun 27, 2010 05:58 AM

What is the latest and greatest on Folly and/or James Island? Is Taco Boy still fun? Is there anything new? I'm after low-key good eats.

Many people say that Loggerheads is good. I've never been and can't personally make that recomendation.

Rita's has great burgers and outdoor seating. Rosebank Farms Cafe has great dining with an outstanding view. The food is excellent.

sorry to disagree, but I would hate for suse to drive all the way out to Rosebanks Farms from Folly (downtown would be closer). We were quite disappointed when we had lunch there a few years ago. Nothing special , a meat n three I could get anywhere.

You are most likely correct but I always like to take a short sight seeing trip while on vacation to see areas close by. I thought the view and a decent lunch at Rosebank might be a break in their vacation. I forgot you had to go back N to cross the bridge to Seabrook. Oh well. Good luck.

Smoky Oak Taproom on Camp Rd has surprisingly decent BBQ and excellent chicken livers.Theyve got a good beer selection as well.Service is a little staggered but for being open and busy for about 6 mos and word of mouth advertisement only, they are doing something right.

Didn't make it to Seabrook Island anyway, so no worries. I do love a good view, though. Went back to the always fun Taco Boy. We had teens in tow, so we went back to the Daily Dose on James Island and tried Cosmic Dog for the first time. We didn't know about the hype, so it was a fun surprise. Someone recommended the Brick House Kitchen on Folly Rd. (James Island) and wow, was it ever disappointing. Don't go. Would have checked out Rita's but nobody was in a burger mood. We actually ended up cooking more than we had planned to.
