Kangaroo Burgers

Visited Mondo Burger in Richmond on Friday and had their new Kangaroo Burger. I have never eaten Kangaroo meat before this time so I kept my fingers crossed but I wasn't disappointed.

The burger was very light and had a very nice flavour. The meat is brought in from Australia and they have also introduced a Bison Burger and a Game Burger (this one is the combination of Kangaroo and Bison). I'll probably go back and try the others later.

Just wanted to share the info.

Cool, JE! I love Tenderland Meats -- great meatloaf (and crazy cheap when it's on sale) and back ribs -- they will cut them into riblets for you and almost always have them fresh, not prefrozen. Their prices are a bit higher than Safeway et al but way better quality. I also think their hamburger is excellent. I just wish they wouldn't preslice their luncheon meats.

Okay, now I can come out of the closet and say that the patties I bought from Hills at Eat Vancouver (when I asked for slider buns in another post) were camel and kangaroo.

No judging from me, repartee, though my SIL's stories of eating whole roasted camel in the Emirates haven't exactly convinced me I want to partake anytime soon :-). I'd deffo try some 'roo though. I understand they are as prolific as rabbits in Oz and often considered pests, so not a problem re availability.

meatloaf was on sale today 3 for $10, and i hear you regarding pre-sliced deli meat, big reason why i buy mine @ Santa Barbara , despite the omnipresent line-up

Straying off topic on delis....I like going to Bosa, JN&Z and Freybe - though I don't buy a lot of deli meats these days. I used to be a regular at Santa Barbara, but the line ups are way too long and (as you say) omnipresent these days.

Their German bacon, smoked German ham, liver pate, Cervelat salami, the fresh sausages (for BBQ-ing, etc). There are meats I have only seen at their outlet store on Hastings. They also have quite of few German and Eastern European specialty items there (mustards, spreads, etc.)

Thanks for the report. I'm in that area Richmond fairly often - I should check this place out.
