Meat Pies - looking for wholesale source

non sequitur Jun 26, 2010 07:05 PM

Small meat pies (as distinguished from larger québécois tortierre and same-sized scotch pies) are my idea of comfort food of my youth, and I always buy a box on Toronto homecomings from local bakeries, but I've noticed an unsettling price inflation each year.

Local bakeries never seem to make these from scratch. Can anyone identify their source?

You can try Saucier foods - www.saucierfoods.com - they make both small and large meat pies ranging from quebec tourtieres to chicken, duck and other fillings. They sell wholesale and also at a couple of the farmer's markets (Withrow and Trinity Bellwoods). Good luck in your search.
