St. Cloud Florida Eats
I just made the move from South Orlando to St. Cloud, a releatively small town and wondered if any of you chowhounds knew of any good restaurants there.
Places I've seen
The Catfish Place
Sip and Dip Donuts - I've been here years ago and the indepented doughnut and subshop was always good, but haven't been there in years.
Koffee Kup
Fat Boys BBQ
Apps Pizza
Any suggestions or any elborations on these?

I lived in St. Cloud, FL about thirty years ago. From the point of view of the child that I was at the time -- the Catfish Place was our special dinner out restaurant. I remember eating frog legs there and thinking I was very sophisticated. I would knock someone over for some Fat Boy's barbecue right now. The Brunswick stew and blackberry cobbler were very good. I'd love to know what these places are like now.

Don't even think of going to the "Largest Buffet in Osceola County" west of St Cloud. Bland, ugly, spurious pricing, and just plain ugh. Even the Brits were complaining. I had hoped that it was far enough away from the tourist corridor, but was proved wrong.

Good Cuban at Mambo's on US192 western edge of St Cloud. Roast pork and chicken are very good along with other items. Running cheap specials now.
Decent "fast food" Italian at Chimento's on New york Ave, downtown SC. Cheap , no frills, no ambience, counter service Italian food. Like their subs, especially the steak sub or sausage sub, more then their pasta.
Decent burgers with nice view , Lakeside Inn of US192 on Alligator Lake, a few miles east of Narcossie Road. Little grill in a small motel with boat dock, sits just near the water. A few tables inside. Nice to sit outside when it's not broiling out. Burgers are decent, love the fried mushrooms.
15 minutes from SC, downtown Kissimmee, Dakin Ave and Main street. There are two resturants, Sushi place and a great wine bar all on Dakin. If you sit outside, you are able to order from all of these places and mix and match your food & drinks from any place . In the wine bar you can have food brought in from the resturants and sushi place. Wine bar - Vinatge Vino, smalll selection but great wines. Owner worked for Wine Spectator magazine for 17 years. Vintage also has cheese plates and some small cold plates. Live entertainment on weekends on the street. But this time of year, bring your water bottle fan !
Don't eat at the Chicago hot dog place on the same street, no way resembles real Chicago sytle dogs or sandwhiches, besides just lousy food.-

Oh thank you! I've seen that Mambo restaurant and I have been wondering about it.
that hotdog place is it something called willys weiners or something. I've seen that place and always wondered as well. I guess I should just stick with Hot Dog Heaven.

Ate at Mambo's yesterday and can recommend it highly.
Nice atmosphere since it is table cloth waitress service in a very clean, simple environment..
Lunch special of roast pork, yellow rice and black beans plus plantains - very well prepared.
Not fancy but good and well worth lunch special price.
