Mighty Fine Ribs on the Menu at Aunt Mary's Cafe in Oakland
We were regulars at Aunt Mary's when they had dinner service and still make it there often on the weekend for brunch/lunch. Today I had some of the best ribs I have had in a long time. I'm not sure it will stay on the menu, but this is my meager attempt at letting others know.
The smoke is deep and the sauce is a sticky, thick, flavorful mixture made with cola. As a Texan who grew up barbecuing (and by barbecuing I don't mean grilling), I am always looking for the penetrating smoke all the way through the meat, a sauce that pushes the flavor envelope but that doesn't kill the meat (or my mouth) and just a touch of richness/decadence. To me, this was the real deal.
I'm hoping other rib lovers will check it out and that these stay on the menu.
