Southside Restaurants - July 1-2

bucksguy14 Jun 25, 2010 07:53 PM

I'm heading to the Southside to catch a couple of Pirates games. Looking for good food in a not too loud setting. About the only thing we don't want is Indian food recommendations. Need B/L/D and good wine/beer selections. Would really like to know what the locals like and not just hear about the tourist draws.

You have several good choices on the Southside. One of my favorites is the 17th Street Cafe. It's a small restaurant with a friendly bar and very good food. If you want a beer and a sandwich, try Fatheads. Sandwiches as big as your head!

one of my favorite places to go is Piper's Pub.. great Guinness pours, outstanding Bloody Mary's, fantastic firkin cask ales and Scotch selection.

It tends to get mixed reviews, due to the service (I had a good experience) but Yo Rita has amazing a la carte tacos that are really progressive for the city of Pittsburgh!
