Any Vegan Ice Cream Places??

I went out to Josie's and had some of their soy vanilla ice cream. It was some of the best ice cream I have had! I am now on a quest to try more vegan ice cream in Manhattan so if you know of any great vegan ice cream places, tell me! Thanks!

Lula's Sweet Apothecary!!! It's on East 6th between Avenue A and Avenue B. Everything I've had there is amazing, and I'm not even a vegan. Their soft serve is great and they usually have cake batter flavor which is outstanding. They use soy in some things, and use cashew, coconut, and other nuts to create their ice creams.

I'm going to recommend AGAINST Stogo, which is also in the East Village, because everything I've had there is gross and the staff are rude. The staff at Lula's are really sweet, and give you samples of everything. The staff at Stogo will just stare at you if you ask for a sample, then look annoyed and sigh loudly before handing you a sample.

i've heard that the salted caramel pecan is the only flavor worth having at Stogo.

@Abby, have you been to Pure Food & Wine? they supposedly have good vegan desserts, including ice cream...but i'm passing along secondhand info so don't hate me if you don't like it ;)

Thanks! I'll try Lula's Apothecary! I will think about going to Stogo but I am not in that neighborhood that often so I might not get a chance to go to both. I have not been to Pure Food and Wine but I might go...
Still looking for places. Anything on the West side?

The salted caramel pecan flavor is pretty amazing... in fact I don't think I've ever tried any of the others!

have you tried the ice cream at Blossom? if you like it, you can actually buy the mix they use and make it at home...

NYC Icy is a spot that has perenially moved locations; I believe they are currently in the East Village. About half of their flavors are vegan; somewhat in between a sorbet and an ice cream, but very flavorful.

NYC Icy now has a stall on the east side of Avenue A, corner of 7th Street, just by the large deli.

Most Kosher places have non dairy, Parve (or Pareve), selections. Most are outside Manhattan, try Jewish areas of Brooklyn and Queens.

My favorite by far is the soy-based soft serve at Kyotofu on 9th Ave. at 48th St. The two flavors change weekly. It's addictive -- even my friend who usually makes fun of vegan treats is hooked!
