Looking for suggestions of a bar or bar/restaurant in the east bay for watching Mexico v. Argentina on Sunday. Any ideas around the Fruitvale district?

  1. I think you will not be able to avoid it in Fruitvale -- every TV will be tuned to it (walking to my office the morning of the first Mexico match I was amused to see the whole staff of the Baja Fresh on Fremont St. -- which although it's a faux Mexican restaurant has an almost entirely Mexican staff -- decked out in Mexico colors, clustered around a portable TV set before opening for business).

My first thought was Guadalajara, which is good-sized and one of the few places that has a full bar. If the carnitas in the restaurant is as good as the carnitas from their taco truck, I highly recommend it.

    1. Not in Fruitvale, but I know that The New Parish in uptown is going to be showing it on a big screen, with food by the chef from Hibiscus.

      1. I heard on the radio that El Huarache Azteca on International Blvd. will have the final match on Sunday, July 11, and will have a special buffet that morning.
