Some Help with Pairing Manchego with Fruit

I've got to do a cheese sampling with Manchego and fruit for my work, but I can't seem to find a whole lot of info on it besides Quince paste, and we did that last time and it didn't go over incredibly well even though it's a classic pairing.

I was considering fig or honey, and I read on the boards here the suggestion of Onion & Garlic jam. I also just had some ladies in here who told me they love it with red pepper jelly or raspberry chipotle sauce.

Does any chowhound out there have any other suggestions?

  1. I like dried apricots with Manchego.

Thanks for the idea! We are going to go with apricots and the raspberry chipolte sauce.

    2. Apricots does sound good.

I'd also suggest sweet apple slices (splash with lemon water to avoid browning); figs, fresh or dried; and/or perfectly ripe pears. Really, I think one key is to get fruit at its peak.

Thanks, we are actually trying to go with things that we have in the store, I work at a restaurant supply that’s open to the public and has equipment and gourmet food items and ingredients.

We don't carry any produce except dried fruit really, but if I ever have the time to do a cheese tasting, I will defiantly consider the fresh fruit ideas for that.
