Chart House, McCormick Parkway, Scottsdale?

  • 7

Been perusing this site for some months now and don't recall anyone ever mentioning the chart house. We used to go there, when we lived in scottsdale and always had an enjoyable experience.

Has it gone downhill or is there just better choices in that area, now?

  1. Its a relatively expensive chain. There are definitely better choices in the area. Razz, Takeda Thai, Humble Pie, and Veneto Trattoria are really close. But, a little bit further down Scottsdale opens up a wide variety of more local options. If you want steakhouse/seafood house you can do better even with mini-chains or bigger chains like a Flemings, ruths Chris, etc.

That's right! Every summer, the heat is making me forget....

Funny, I was just driving by the Chart House with my parents and we were reminiscing about when it first opened and how it was the only place to get good fish....used to eat there all the time. I haven't been there for about 15 years, was suprised to see they are still open. My parents met friends there a few months ago and said it was terrible, like cafeteria food. Eddie V's & Wildfish Grille are both excellent seafood places. Actually, most places stay open in the summer now, not like the "old days", Razz's is the exception.

            Thanks for the replies, folks.

We, too, used to go as a family thing and always had such a great time (and loved the view). Guess it's a memory now :)

I could not disagree more with jsaint's comments. I have been going to the Chart House in Scottsdale for years and have had a great experience every time. I can not believe someone would compare it to cafeteria food. If you had such a great itme, why did you stop going? Why not give it another try and post your comments afterwards.

    2. Perhaps if I had a taste for what culinary cool was in 1988, I'd head to Chart House, but the last time I was there (circa, 2005), everything about the place just felt so tired. Our table was half-set with silver when we sat down. Our server seemed either untrained our disinterested. And the salad bar offerings were a far cry from Chart House's Hey-look-there's-caviar-next-to-the-croutons heyday.
Show me a restaurant outside the Pacific Rim with an Aloha theme, and I'll show you a menu that's serving up tired, coconut-battered, sesame-seared and macadamia nut-crusted tripe in a dining room that time forgot.
      Don Ho? Hell no.
