Yet Another Request for Suggestions - Need Some Fun! Scottsdale, Mesa, East Phoenix

I have been looking at reviews/suggestions here for the last hour and still haven't decide on a place for my husband and I to take a friend tomorrow night. Unfortunately, because of physical limitations, I don't get out as much as we'd like and want to ensure a FUN time with great food. Not pretentious, overpriced (but not cheap, either).

I used to live in Scottsdale and am well aware that there are a LOT of restaurants in the area, but still can't decide on one.

Considering:

C-Fu Gourmet (I know, out of the area, but went a long time ago and it was good) - is it still a good restaurant?

Someone suggested the Wandering Horse Buffet, but am wondering about the atmosphere (do they still allow smoking in casinos?)

Not crazy about going to Old Town on a saturday night....

What about something on Lincoln? Although, we're probably talking pricey..

Any suggestions?

Probably too late now, but I would have recommended NOCA for fun and great food. It is at Camelback and 32nd Street, so not too far off your "beaten path."
