Need recommendations for lunch (cheap to moderate) in the vicinity of the Joyce Theater (8th Ave. and 19 St.). All cuisines acceptable. Thanks for the replies.

  1. Gascogne, the sweet little French bistro, is on 8th, b/t 17th & 18th (closer to 18th). Good food, efficient service, and one of the most charming back gardens in the city. In addition to their a la carte menu, they offer a 3-course lunch prix fixe for $21.

    1. Love Gascogne, also across the street is Rocking Horse Cafe for modern Mexican.

      1. I second the suggestions above. Also, La Bergamote on 9th and 21st (or 20th?) has good sandwiches if you want a quick bite. Murray's on 8th bet 22 and 23 for bagel sandwiches of all varieties.

        1. I second all of those suggestions. Also, if you wanted pizza Don Giovanni's is relatively nearby and yummy. You should pick up a slice of banana cake at Billy's bakery if you have time! I also like Le Zie in Chelsea for another italian option. Oh, and there's a vietnamese place on 9th at 20th that's great too...
