Is Mama's Coal Pit still open in St Louis?

Never heard of it...I am thinking not.

Last reference I can find to Mama's Coal Pit is 2008.

Gone, alas. Rumors of it opening elsewhere danced around for a bit, but no further word.

I've just recently repatriated to the area (sort of) after 20 years away, this one I never heard of but the name intrigues me. Was it BBQ and where?

It was a hole in the wall barbecue in the Delmar Loop, in the area of the open air market.

ok I don't even really recognize that area anymore, I hung out there with all the other idiot punk rockers and art-twits in the 80's and while I'm happy to see Blueberry Hill and all of Joe's other enterprises flourish and Cicero's now ADA compliant etc. etc. etc. so much has come and gone around there it's hard to fathom.

sounds like the sort of place I would have liked.
