Just A Few Nights in San Antonio: Dinner -Where to go???

Hi all,

I will be spending a few nights/days in San Antonio with my girlfriend July 4th weekend and I was hoping to try to spend at least one romantic/fun/interesting night together.

I was thinking about doing the River Walk which seems interesting (however it will be July 4th weekend so maybe WAY to crowded?) and checking out maybe Boudro's -which seems decent or maybe Fig Tree (which might be a bit too expensive but maybe not)

These are my Ideas -but I would love it if my fellow Chohoudians could chime in.

Let me know what you think. Must go places? Places to avoid? Favorites? Hot new restaurants?

Your input is much appreciated.

  1. Take a walk or boat ride up the new part of the riverwalk to the Pearl Brewery area. There are three great restaurants there, Il Sogno, La Gloria, Sandbar. Search the forum for more specifics.
Most rests on the more popular part of the riverwalk are tourist traps.

    1. Near but not "on" the riverwalk is a new-ish French restaurant LeMidi. Also Bruce
Auden's Biga on the Banks is a lovely and romantic place to have dinner. If the
cioppino is on the menu, don't miss it. Auden is an award-winning chef, so most of the
dinners that come from his kitchen are terrific. If you want to get off the river, take the trolley to several fun places on S. Alamo... Rosario's, loud but fun...Guenther House for Texas breakfasts...LeFrite for french-ish Belgian...Azuca for great "latin" dishes... Most of
      all, enjoy the lovely city.
